Amirah & Nur Aniqah Mee Soto & Mee Rebus

Even if i was forced to relocate to Jurong Island, i would still make my way down to Adam Rd just for the Mee Soto.

The broth of the soto has just the right amount of spice and the coriander (Ketumbar) hits you with a BAM! The noodles have just the right texture for slurping and NEVER ever go without the chilli. My bowl goes from brown to black because of the chilli but i tell you, it's black gold.

The chicken is also well marinated with spices and still remains juicy though it looks a little over-fried. Trust me, it wouldn't matter.

The portion might be a bit small. But hey, it gives you an excuse to order another one!

With several other Malay-Muslim warungs in Adam Food Centre hawking almost identical menus, Amirah & Nur Aniqah's distinguishes itself by focusing almost exclusively on mee soto. This move is certainly worthwhile, for the mee soto here is SEDAP! Ignoring the thin layer of translucent oil on the surface yields fat, al dente yellow noodles, a generous helping of tender shredded chicken and crunchy beansprouts swimming in a cloudy and intensely flavourful chicken broth infused with a heady bouquet of spices including turmeric, coriander, ginger and fried shallots. The addition of faintly bitter minced celery leaves were a light, nice touch which cut through the spiciness and richness of the dish. Mee soto is not considered complete without the ubiquitous but highly Begedil (potato patty). The version here is pretty solid - crackling crisp batter enveloping a roughly mashed (not pureed) core which retains plenty of satisfying bite and texture, with just a hint of spice. Excellent.

There are few things that comes close to a steaming hot bowl of soto ayam on a rainy afternoon. Not to mention this particular one at the Adam Road hawker centre. The stock is beautiful on any given day but on a rainy day… it’s difficult to beat! They give you just the right amount of chicken pieces, lontong and bean sprouts but don’t forget to order the giant bergadel which when broken into your bowl of soto will give you a yummy nice thick soup. Bring on the rain!
