I love Malay cooking, especially those served at home or “warung Melayu”—hawker stalls selling ready-to-order hot dishes such as soups, noodles, meat, seafood, and rice dishes. Malay cooking is colorful and absolutely delicious, and it’s one of the staple cuisines enjoyed by many, regardless of race or religion. Here are some easy home-style Malay dishes that you can prepare in a jiffy. They are best served with steamed white rice and a side of the fiery and pungent sambal belacan, or traditional Malay ulam (salad).
