Must Tries – Noodee box, string tied bak kut teh, bibimbab, chicken rice

Shoppers and foodies alike have one new reason to cheer – A new food establishment, The Gallerie, has just opened at Marina Square. This 889-seater food space offers a selection of 29 stalls and food and beverage kiosks in an open dining concept.

Opened by Koufu, The Gallerie features a modern contemporary setting that makes it more upmarket and comfortable than other food courts. But what we really liked about this place is that it offers a panoramic view of the Marina Bay district and waterfront, so you can enjoy the beautiful view while you dine.

We were also quite thrilled by the choice of stalls here. Other than those offering the usual local delights, we found some interesting ones selling dishes such as Hakka claypot rice, thunder tea rice, Indonesian BBQ, Japanese cuisine, soup empire and a yoghurt place.

Here are some interesting ones we picked:

The Noodee Box by Lam’s

The famous Lam’s abalone noodle takes on a modern twist, with the noodles served in a takeaway box. Try the Noodee Char Siew ($6.80), Japanese noodles cooked with a variety of ingredients such as char siew, minced pork, fishcake and Taiwanese sausage.

Pao Xiang Bah Kut Teh

Pao Xiang is a successful restaurant chain from Kuala Lumpur, serving thick and dark coloured Hokkien style bak kut teh cooked with 18 Chinese herbs and spices. We simply loved the tender and succulent pork ribs.

Tofu Mania

Interestingly, Korean restaurant Tofu Mania comes from New Zealand. It serves authentic Korean fares such as hotplates, tofu soup, and pancakes. We would recommend the bibimbab – it has slices of tender meat mixed with vegetables and a raw egg yolk in a hot pot, topped with an extremely flavoursome sauce!
